Beginner or expert, this is THE roaster!......

After playing with all the rest (or not), try a Behmor 1600, see and taste the difference a real roaster makes....

Day one: I think you have a winner. My initial impression is that it is the best home roaster. I will let you know after I have tasted the coffee and done a few more roasts.
Day two: Cupped the Mexican I roasted yesterday. As good as any production roaster!
Quality of the roast- once again, excellent.

I have been using the Behmor ~with excellent results in the cup. Enough so I'm confident enough in the results to roast any bean.

Joe,
I made cappos and ristrettos this morning with the coffee we roasted last Sat. They were excellent. I believe that you have a good product going here.~ If I were a new homeroaster, I would buy your machine. It is the best value and ease of use is awesome. It is way better than the Gene Cafe. It blows (pun intended) all of the hot air roasters off the table.
You do have some advantages over the Hottop. Here are the ones I see right away.
1. Ease of cleaning. (The biggest problem with homeroasting is a dirty roaster)
2. No filters to replace. (People don't replace filiters when they should)
3. Simplicity (Hottop has many more moving parts).
4. Heat Protection
5. Nice and quiet
6. Simple load and lock operation.
7. Almost twice the capability ~at about half the cost.

I find the overall taste profiles to accentuate the more exotic "darker qualities" of the beans... chocolate, caramel, nut, and somewhat the spice...

I had 2-300g COE samples Colombian and Costa Rican that I roasted in both the Hot Top and Behmor. This morning there was no split decision, the Behmor shined through. All three people that cupped (2 of which were professional roasters) these coffees excluding myself ( I exclude my self because I knew which roast were done on the Behmor/Hot Top) thought the Behmor was a little brighter and sweeter then the HotTop roast.
